Community 2000 Scholarship Mission
Community 2000 provides need-based scholarships for Charlestown, Hopkinton, and Richmond residents going on to college or technical schools.
Comunity 2000 has offered need-based scholarships since the spring of 2000. The Community 2000 Scholarship Endowment supports Chariho graduates and/or residents of Charlestown, Hopkinton and Richmond who are seeking additional college or technical training and can demonstrate at least a modest level of financial need. The endowment consists of multiple separate endowments that include the Quonnie segment (where Community 2000 originated, two memorial scholarships and several endowmwents aimed at funding scholarships in distinct career areas. Scholarship support is provided annually throughout a student's undergraduate career, i.e., for four years; or up to 5-6 years for majors such as pharmacy, engineering or physical therapy that typically require more than four years of education. In the 2020-2025 timeframe, the individual, annual scholarship amount is expected to be $2,000 for 32-35 annual scholarship winners (a pipeline of 8-9 freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and 4th to 6th year students).
Unrestricted Need-based Scholarship Awards
Community 2000-Dollars for Scholars "Need-based" scholarships are for residents of Charlestown, Hopkinton and Richmond going on to college or additional technical training. Award winners typically are graduating high school seniors, and the scholarship is renewable annually.
Restricted Need-based Scholarship Awards
The Community 2000 "Needs-based" endowment also includes funds targeted specifically to support graduates of the Chariho Career and Technical programs seeking additional technical training.

Partnership Scholarship Awards
Additionally, Community 2000 supports two “Partnership Scholarship Efforts --- the Rotary Club of Chariho “Community Service-based” scholarship endowment for residents of Charlestown, Hopkinton, Richmond, Exeter and West Greenwich who are seeking college or technical training, and The Westerly College Club Lois Hamilton Fontaine scholarship endowment for residents of Charlestown, Hopkinton, Richmond, Westerly/Pawcatuck, and Stonington who have experienced at least one semester of college or technical school training beyond high school.
